Air Conditioners
Air conditioners may look similar, but check the SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) ratings. Higher SEER numbers save more money. A 13 SEER rated air conditioner uses 23% less energy than a 10 SEER unit. 13 SEER will be the minimum efficiency standard by 2006.
Furnaces
Heating and air conditioning systems are the biggest users of energy in the home, up to 75% of the total utility bill. A new high-efficiency furnace can save up to 50% in operating costs over a ten-year-old furnace. Many pre-1990 model furnaces have efficiencies of 65% or less. The minimum efficiency furnace that can be sold in the United States today is 78%. Furnaces are available that are up to 94% efficient.
Heat Pumps
Heat pumps are rated in SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) and HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor). SEER and HSPF numbers are like miles-per-gallon ratings of automobiles. Higher SEER and HSPF ratings mean greater energy savings.

Choosing new products or replacing old ones? Superior’s expert technicians can design and install any cooling or heating system, custom-made to your needs and specifications.
Inspection
Safe and efficient operation of a home heating system requires a regular check-up. Our annual tune-up includes:
- Inspection, cleaning & adjustment of head assembly, burner fan & motor, ignition system, controls, oil strainer, oil filter, oil pump, & combustion chamber.
- Lubricate burner motor, blower motor, circulator motor and bearings.
- Vacuum cleaning of boiler or furnace, flue pipe and chimney base (where accessible, when necessary to maintain or improve burner efficiency).
- Replacement of one nozzle and one oil filter cartridge.
- Perform combustion efficiency test.
Preventive Maintenance
Preventive Maintenance Service is for customers who want to have their heating system tuned up but do not wish to purchase our Home Service Contract. Any future service calls and all parts requiring repair or replacement will be charged at prevailing rates. Service is only available during normal working hours.
Heating
Our answer to frequent customer questions asking why they should have their heating system tuned up is economy. The best way to improve your heating system is to get regular tune-ups. Besides saving money on fuel, tune-ups can reveal safety problems such as frayed wires, worn parts, or a blocked chimney or flue.
A tune up also removes the impurities that build up in your system. By having your system cleaned and tuned on a regular basis, you’ll return your heating system to peak efficiency, extending the life of critical parts and components.
Air Conditioning
Routine seasonal maintenance is very important to ensure the efficient operation of your air conditioning system. Superior will inspect, troubleshoot, and service all components and aspects, including:
- Air conditioning compressors (outside unit)
- Air conditioning air handlers and evaporator coils (inside unit)
- Coolant charge
- Heat pump systems
- Other cooling and home comfort systems
At Superior Oil we offer pricing programs to help avoid price spikes such as those we have experienced in past heating seasons.
Some of our programs include an 11-month budget plan, which allows you to spread out your payments over an extended period, or a lock-in price from October 1st through April 30th.
Lock-in prices do not guarantee that you will be paying a lower price on the day of your delivery. What they do guarantee is a stable price, which helps you to avoid price spikes in the middle of the heating season.
